ABOUT
In the days of 1970's LeMans racing the Ferrari released 512S to compete with the mighty Porsche 917s which unfortunately didn't succeed due to the heavier construction and less performing engine than the Porsche. The successor of 512S was the 512M, the letter standing for 'Modificato'. It was lighter than the car it replaced, more powerful, possessed better aerodynamics and more stable handling. It was meant to be the one to beat the successful 917 but sadly, the CSI, which governed the sport at the time, issued an edict saying that, for 1972, the 5-litre prototypes, which included the Ferrari and Porsche big guns, would no longer be eligible to race.
